Harvey was born in Delray Beach in 1961 and has enjoyed growing up in its friendly, small-town atmosphere. He graduated from Atlantic High School in 1979 and went on to attend the University of Florida, earning a B.S. in Business Administration in 1983. Harvey joined his father’s insurance agency in late 1983 and has appreciated working with his customers and insurance companies ever since. Harvey was immediately active in various civic and philanthropic organizations throughout the city and in the insurance industry. In 1998 Harvey decided to attend law school in order to provide greater expertise and counseling for his insurance clients. He graduated in 2002 from Nova Southeastern University Law School and has been a member of the Florida Bar since 2002.
In 1987 Harvey served as President of the South Palm Beach County Insurance Agents Association. He is a three-time past President of the Delray Beach Public Library Association, a past President of the Delray Beach Noontime Kiwanis Club, and two-time past President of the Delray Beach Playhouse. He is currently the President of his Condominium Association, Vice-President of the Board of Unity of Delray Beach Church and an active board member of the Delray Beach Rotary Club. In addition to his civic and church giving, Harvey strongly supports over 20 animal, nature and environmental charities.
Harvey is a licensed pilot, an expert in aerospace technology and supporter of the Astronaut Scholarship Foundation, a lifelong railroad expert, and enjoys travel. Harvey is married to his wife Marilyn and resides in Delray Beach.
